Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen believes Michael Olise has the ability to win the Ballon d’Or in the future, as the Bundesliga champions prepare to discuss extending the French winger’s contract beyond 2029.

Olise has become one of Bayern’s most influential attacking players since joining from Crystal Palace in 2024. His performances have attracted attention across Europe, with Real Madrid reportedly among the clubs linked with the France international during the summer transfer window.

Dreesen Backs Olise to Win Football’s Biggest Individual Prize

Speaking to German publication Sport Bild, Dreesen expressed confidence in Olise’s potential to compete for the sport’s most prestigious individual award.

“If someone asked me today whether he would win the Ballon d'Or one day, my answer would always be: I don't see why not,” the Bayern chief said.

Dreesen added that individual success also depends on having a well-functioning team around the player, believing Olise has the right environment at Bayern to continue developing.

The winger finished ninth in the 2026 Ballon d’Or voting, placing him among the world’s leading players after an impressive season for club and country.

Bayern Prepare for Long-Term Contract Talks

Bayern are keen to keep Olise in Munich for as long as possible. His current contract runs until 2029, but the club’s leadership wants to discuss a potential extension when the timing is right.

“We want Michael to play for us for as long as possible. When the time is right, we will discuss the future with him,” Dreesen explained.

The comments underline Bayern’s determination to retain a player whose creativity, vision and attacking output have made him a key part of Vincent Kompany’s plans.

Although the club has expressed its intention to secure Olise’s long-term future, a new contract has not yet been confirmed.

Olise’s Numbers Strengthen His Reputation

Olise’s performances during the 2025–26 campaign helped establish him among Europe’s most productive attacking players. He contributed goals and assists while forming an effective partnership with Harry Kane and Bayern’s other forwards.

His ability to create chances, deliver dangerous passes and influence matches from wide positions gives Bayern another major attacking threat. At just 24, he also has time to develop further and build a stronger case for future individual honours.

Bayern Want to Build Around Their French Star

For Bayern, keeping Olise is about more than preventing rival clubs from signing a talented player. It is also about maintaining the attacking quality needed to compete for domestic and European trophies.

Dreesen’s comments demonstrate the confidence the club has in the winger, although winning the Ballon d’Or would require sustained individual excellence and success at the highest level.

For now, Bayern’s immediate priority is to keep Olise performing in Munich and open discussions about his future when appropriate. If he continues to develop at his current pace, the club clearly believes that a Ballon d’Or challenge is a realistic ambition rather than an impossible dream.
