🔴🔥 Jeremy Jacquet Opens Up on Virgil van Dijk Partnership: “Very Few Defenders Have Reached His Level”

Jeremy Jacquet has revealed how much he is enjoying playing alongside Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool, describing the experience as “incredible” and praising the Reds captain as a defender who has reached a level achieved by very few players. The 21-year-old centre-back has quickly settled into life at Anfield and is now emerging as Van Dijk's regular defensive partner.

Jacquet Praises Van Dijk's Influence

Jeremy Jacquet has spoken openly about the experience of playing alongside Virgil van Dijk, admitting that sharing a Liverpool defence with the club captain is something special.

Speaking to Téléfoot, the young French defender highlighted Van Dijk's extraordinary reputation and the opportunity to learn from a player who has established himself among the elite defenders of his generation.

“Playing with him is incredible. There are few defenders who have reached his level,” Jacquet said.

For a defender still at the beginning of his senior career, having Van Dijk alongside him provides a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced centre-backs in modern football.

From Rennes to Liverpool's Starting XI

Jacquet joined Liverpool from Rennes during the summer and arrived with significant expectations surrounding his development.

The 21-year-old has adapted remarkably quickly, becoming Van Dijk's regular partner in Liverpool's defence rather than simply serving as a long-term project.

His performances have also earned him international recognition. Jacquet made his France debut during the latest international break and subsequently started again in the 1-1 draw with Italy.

That rapid progression has made his partnership with Van Dijk even more intriguing.

A Partnership That Could Shape Liverpool's Defence

Van Dijk brings years of experience at the highest level, while Jacquet represents the next generation of elite defenders.

The contrast could prove valuable for Liverpool. Jacquet's athleticism, composure and ability to play progressively from the back have complemented Van Dijk's experience, positioning and leadership.

The youngster has already earned praise for his performances since arriving at Anfield, while Liverpool's decision to bring him in is increasingly looking like a significant investment in the club's defensive future.

Jacquet Still Has Plenty to Learn

Despite his impressive start, Jacquet remains at the beginning of his journey.

His own comments suggest he understands the value of having a defender of Van Dijk's calibre beside him. Every training session and competitive match offers another opportunity to learn from a player who has spent years performing at the highest level.

For Liverpool, that could make the partnership particularly exciting.

Van Dijk can provide the experience and leadership, while Jacquet continues developing into a defender capable of carrying the responsibility himself in the future.

The Bigger Picture for Liverpool

Liverpool supporters have already seen enough from Jacquet to become excited about his potential.

His rapid transition from Rennes prospect to Premier League starter and France international has been one of the early stories of his career.

Now, with Van Dijk beside him, Jacquet has the perfect environment to continue developing.

The Frenchman's admiration for his captain is clear — but if his early performances are anything to go by, Liverpool may eventually have another defender capable of reaching the level Jacquet currently admires from Van Dijk.
