Real Madrid survived a huge scare on Tuesday night, surrendering a two-goal advantage before Carlos Espí struck in stoppage time to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory at Elche.

The result was the headline moment from a three-match LaLiga programme that also saw Valencia claim their first league victory of the season and Rayo Vallecano defeat Espanyol 2-1.

Madrid looked completely in control for long periods at the Martínez Valero, but Elche produced a remarkable second-half response before the visitors found a late winner.

Real Madrid appeared to be cruising after taking a 2-0 lead inside the opening 33 minutes.

For Valencia, the clean sheet and three points provided a much-needed boost.

Earlier in the evening, Rayo Vallecano defeated Espanyol 2-1 in their final home match at Estadio Ontime Butarque.

Rayo made an explosive start.

They doubled their lead in the 26th minute when Adrià Pedrosa found the net against his former side.

Espanyol responded after the break through Roberto Fernández, who reduced the deficit in the 54th minute.
