🚨 Real Madrid Dressing Room Still “Ice-Cold” Under Mourinho as Tchouaméni-Valverde Rift and Mbappé Row Add Pressure

Real Madrid are reportedly facing renewed dressing-room tension despite José Mourinho's arrival, with Spanish reports suggesting that problems which surfaced last season have not disappeared.

Cadena SER journalist Antón Meana described the atmosphere as still “cold” and claimed that tensions between some members of the squad remain unresolved. The situation has been further complicated by the controversy surrounding Kylian Mbappé and his recent activities during his recovery from injury.

Mourinho Has Yet to Completely Change the Dressing Room

José Mourinho returned to Real Madrid this summer with the task of restoring stability and pushing the club back towards the top of Spanish and European football.

However, according to reporting from Spain, some of the problems that affected the squad under Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa have continued.

Antón Meana of Cadena SER said the dressing room remains as cold as it was several months ago, suggesting that Mourinho has not yet completely resolved the divisions within the squad.

That does not mean every player is involved in the disagreements, but the reports indicate that certain relationships inside the group remain strained.

Tchouaméni and Valverde's Previous Confrontation

One of the clearest examples of the tensions came last season when Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde were involved in a physical confrontation.

The incident followed a training-ground challenge, with reports stating that Valverde's tackle on Tchouaméni sparked the disagreement before the situation escalated away from the pitch.

Real Madrid subsequently fined both players, while Tchouaméni publicly acknowledged that what happened during training was unacceptable.

The incident became a symbol of the wider problems surrounding the squad at the time.

Mourinho later addressed the relationship between the two midfielders and said he had been prepared to intervene if necessary. He also insisted that the pair appeared to have rebuilt their friendship and that he was happy with the group.

Fresh Tensions Reportedly Emerging

The latest reports suggest that the underlying atmosphere has not completely changed.

Meana said there had been another confrontation involving two players, although the identities of those players were not initially revealed in his comments.

That distinction is important.

The recent report does not establish that Tchouaméni and Valverde were responsible for the latest confrontation. Their previous incident is documented, but the identities involved in the new report have not been publicly confirmed by the original Cadena SER account.

For Real Madrid, however, the broader concern remains the same: whether internal disagreements could affect performances during an extremely demanding part of the season.

Mbappé Adds Another Layer to the Situation

Kylian Mbappé has also become a major talking point after his recent injury and activities away from the club.

The France captain suffered a knee problem during international duty and subsequently spent time away from Madrid while recovering.

During that period, images and videos showed him attending a nightclub in Paris and later cycling in the Swiss Alps.

Those appearances generated criticism among sections of the Real Madrid fanbase, particularly because Mourinho has previously emphasised the responsibilities that come with being a Real Madrid player.

Reports subsequently claimed that Mourinho spoke privately with Mbappé after his return and questioned his recent behaviour.

However, there is also a different side to the story: Spanish outlet AS reported that Mbappé's recovery plan had been approved by Real Madrid and that his relationship with Mourinho remained positive.

That means the situation should be treated as a developing internal story rather than proof of a breakdown between the manager and his star forward.

Mourinho Faces a Crucial October

The timing makes the situation particularly important.

Real Madrid have a demanding run of fixtures ahead, including Champions League meetings with Roma and Leipzig, a league clash with Sevilla and the El Clásico against Barcelona on October 25.

The club also enter this period after a 2-1 defeat to Atlético Madrid.

Mourinho therefore needs his players fully focused, particularly with Barcelona currently setting the pace in La Liga.

The Portuguese coach has publicly maintained that the group is united. In September, when discussing Tchouaméni and Valverde, he said the squad was “fantastic” and praised the players for building a group he liked.

The challenge now is ensuring that public confidence is reflected inside the dressing room.

The Bigger Question for Real Madrid

The reports do not necessarily point towards an imminent dressing-room collapse.

But they do highlight a difficult balancing act for Mourinho.

He must manage relationships between established stars, integrate his tactical ideas and keep the squad united while expectations around Real Madrid remain enormous.

Mbappé's situation has added another layer of scrutiny, while the memories of last season's internal conflicts have not completely disappeared.

With several major fixtures approaching, Mourinho's ability to maintain unity could become just as important as his tactical decisions.

For Real Madrid, the coming weeks will provide a much clearer indication of whether the reported problems are temporary noise or something deeper within the squad.

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible.
