Fernandes opened the 2026/27 Premier League campaign in impressive fashion, producing a spectacular hat-trick and an assist during United's 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town. He subsequently won the Premier League's Player of the Matchweek award with 69 per cent of the fan vote.
It was another reminder of how heavily United continue to rely on their captain for creativity and goals.
The midfielder has also become one of the most decorated individual performers in recent Manchester United history. He has won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times, while the club says he became only the fourth overseas player to reach 100 goals for United.
