The race for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations produced four qualifying matches on Monday, with DR Congo taking another important step towards the tournament while Tunisia were forced to settle for another draw.

Yoane Wissa was the standout performer of the day, scoring and assisting as DR Congo defeated Zimbabwe 2-1 in Harare.

Equatorial Guinea also claimed a narrow victory over Sierra Leone, while Burkina Faso edged Central African Republic.

In the day's final fixture, Tunisia surrendered their lead against Botswana to draw 2-2 and remain without a victory after two matches.

DR Congo maintained their perfect start to Group E with a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe.

Yoane Wissa opened the scoring in the 30th minute after reacting quickest to a loose ball following a mistake by Zimbabwe goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.

The Newcastle United striker then turned provider just before half-time, setting up Samuel Moutoussamy to double DR Congo's advantage.

Zimbabwe pushed for a response after the break and pulled one goal back, but DR Congo held on to secure another three points.

Wissa's contribution was decisive once again, with the forward now playing a central role in DR Congo's strong start to their qualifying campaign.

The victory gives DR Congo six points from two matches, following their opening 2-0 win over Equatorial Guinea.

Equatorial Guinea claimed their first points of the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Sierra Leone.

Loren Zúñiga needed only a minute to make the difference, scoring almost immediately after kick-off.

Sierra Leone were unable to find an equaliser despite having plenty of time to respond, leaving Equatorial Guinea with a crucial home victory.

The result also means Sierra Leone have suffered defeats in both of their opening qualifiers.

Burkina Faso Take Narrow Win

Burkina Faso secured their first victory of the campaign by defeating Central African Republic 1-0.

The match remained goalless for almost an hour before Burkina Faso finally found the breakthrough.

Camara scored in the 60th minute to give the Stallions the lead, and that proved to be enough to secure all three points.

Burkina Faso had opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Benin, making Monday's victory an important response.

Central African Republic, meanwhile, are still searching for their first point after losing their opening two matches.
