Bayern Turn on the Style After Half-Time to Destroy Bodø/Glimt 5-0

Bayern Munich needed only one half to remind Europe of the difference between controlling a Champions League game and completely taking it away from an opponent.

After a frustrating 45 minutes against a disciplined Bodø/Glimt side, Bayern exploded after the interval to claim a 5-0 victory at the Allianz Arena and make a powerful start to their Champions League campaign.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring just two minutes into the second half before Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and a late Michael Olise double turned a difficult opening into a rout.

Bodø/Glimt Survive Bayern's First-Half Pressure

The scoreline at half-time was surprisingly still 0-0.

Bayern dominated possession but struggled to find a way through Bodø/Glimt's compact defensive structure. The Norwegian side frustrated the hosts and goalkeeper Nikita Haikin produced several important saves.

For Musiala, it was more than simply the opening goal.

His goal immediately changed the atmosphere inside the Allianz Arena — and Bayern's performance changed with it.

Kane Keeps His European Streak Alive

Bayern's second arrived in the 61st minute.

Michael Olise delivered the ball into the danger area and Harry Kane rose to head home, doubling Bayern's advantage.

The goal also extended Kane's remarkable Champions League scoring streak to eight consecutive matches.

It was his 55th Champions League goal in his 71st appearance in the competition.

With Bodø/Glimt now forced to open up, Bayern suddenly had the space they had been missing before half-time.

Davies and Olise Complete the Rout

Alphonso Davies made it 3-0 in the 77th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box after Bodø/Glimt failed to clear a corner.

But the biggest individual statement came from Olise.

The France international produced two goals in the closing stages, scoring in the 83rd minute before adding another in stoppage time to complete the 5-0 victory.

His performance earned him Man of the Match recognition after he finished with two goals and an assist.

Bodø/Glimt's night became even worse late on when Odin Bjørtuft was shown a red card.

Bayern's Second Half Sends a Warning

The most significant part of the result may not actually be the five goals.

Bayern showed that they can remain patient against a stubborn defensive block before increasing the intensity and punishing an opponent once the game opens up.

The return of Musiala to the starting XI was another major positive, while Kane's continued European consistency and Olise's explosive form give Vincent Kompany plenty to work with.

For 45 minutes, Bodø/Glimt looked capable of making Bayern uncomfortable.

For the next 45, they simply could not cope.

Bayern have started their Champions League campaign with a statement — and the second-half performance suggests there may be considerably more to come.
