The most dramatic finish came at Peterborough, where the hosts defeated Barnsley 7-6 on penalties after an extraordinary 3-3 draw.

Barnsley struck first before Peterborough turned the game around.

Danny Ormerod helped the hosts move ahead, but Barnsley repeatedly fought back. Reyes Cleary eventually put the visitors 3-2 ahead before Ormerod scored again late in normal time to force penalties.

The shootout continued deep into the kicks.

Eventually, Peterborough goalkeeper Alex Bass saved Barnsley's Luke Alker's effort, leaving Harrison Jones with the opportunity to win the tie.

He converted.

Peterborough therefore reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2009.
