Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest: Victor Muñoz Rescues Reds in Dramatic Anfield Draw

Liverpool were forced to settle for another 2-2 draw as Nottingham Forest twice took the lead at Anfield before Victor Muñoz produced a stunning late equaliser.

It was an entertaining afternoon for neutrals. For Liverpool supporters, however, it may have required a slightly stronger cup of tea.

Forest Strike First

Nottingham Forest made a confident start and took the lead in the 24th minute through Dan Ndoye.

Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm during the first half, while Forest looked dangerous and organised. The visitors had opportunities to extend their advantage, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson produced important saves to keep his side in the contest.

Isak Brings Liverpool Level

Liverpool returned with greater urgency in the second half and finally found their breakthrough in the 60th minute.

Alexander Isak finished from close range after excellent work from Cody Gakpo, bringing Anfield back to life and giving the Reds hope of completing the comeback.

Gibbs-White Restores Forest's Lead

The celebrations did not last long.

Nottingham Forest were awarded a penalty after Alisson was judged to have fouled Neco Williams, and Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up to convert in the 70th minute.

Once again, Liverpool were behind.

Muñoz Saves the Day

Just when it appeared Forest were heading towards a famous victory, summer signing Victor Muñoz delivered the moment of the match.

The winger struck a powerful effort in the 82nd minute to make it 2-2 and rescue a point for Liverpool on his Anfield debut.

Liverpool pushed for a late winner, but Forest held firm.
