Serie A served up a dramatic Sunday as Sassuolo stunned Juventus 3–2, Napoli secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Bologna, and Lecce held off Monza in a five-goal thriller.
Sassuolo 3–2 Juventus
The biggest story of the day came at Sassuolo, where Juventus suffered a late heartbreak in a remarkable 3–2 defeat.
Juventus dominated much of the first half but could not turn their pressure into a goal. Sassuolo eventually broke the deadlock through Sebastiano Esposito in the 65th minute.
The response from Juventus was immediate. Edon Zhegrova equalised in the 82nd minute, only for Sassuolo to regain the lead through Nicholas Gioacchini Bowie four minutes later.
Zhegrova struck again in the 88th minute to make it 2–2, seemingly rescuing a point for Juventus.
But Sassuolo had the final word.
Vasilije Adžić scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time, completing a stunning late victory for the hosts.
Napoli 1–0 Bologna
Napoli continued their positive start with a narrow victory over Bologna.
The reigning champions were made to work for the three points, but Rasmus Højlund's early-season form remains one of the encouraging aspects of Massimiliano Allegri's side.
The 1–0 result keeps Napoli firmly among the early contenders at the top of Serie A.
Lecce 3–2 Monza
Earlier in the day, Lecce edged Monza 3–2 in another entertaining contest.
Five goals ensured there was little time for either defence to relax, with Lecce ultimately doing enough to claim all three points.
Sunday's Big Winners
While Napoli collected an important victory, Sassuolo stole the headlines.
Juventus appeared to have rescued themselves twice, only to concede the decisive goal deep into stoppage time. It was the sort of ending that leaves one team celebrating wildly and the other wondering how three points somehow became zero.
For Juventus, the defeat is an early warning that controlling matches is not enough if they cannot manage the decisive moments.
