Kerim Alajbegović has revealed why he turned down Chelsea in favour of joining Juventus, admitting that the opportunity to represent the Italian giants was simply too difficult to reject.
The highly rated Bosnian attacker had attracted strong interest from Chelsea, but Juventus ultimately won the race for his signature after a late push for the youngster.
Now, Alajbegović has explained what convinced him to choose Turin.
‘When Juventus Call, It’s Hard to Say No’
Speaking to Tuttosport, Alajbegović explained that Juventus' belief in him played a major role in his decision.
The teenager said the club's stature and the confidence shown in his ability were decisive factors.
For Alajbegović, the opportunity to join one of Europe's most historic clubs was simply too appealing.
“When Juventus call, it is truly difficult to say no,” he explained.
The youngster also admitted that he is proud to wear the famous black-and-white shirt.
Chelsea Could Not Convince Him
Chelsea were among the clubs pushing to sign Alajbegović before Juventus secured the deal.
The Premier League giants had reportedly been favourites at one stage, but a late intervention from Juventus changed the picture.
Ultimately, Alajbegović chose Serie A over the Premier League.
His explanation suggests that the decision was not simply about choosing between two clubs, but about which project gave him the strongest feeling of being wanted.
Pjanic Played an Important Role
One of the biggest influences on Alajbegović's decision was Miralem Pjanić.
The former Juventus midfielder was able to provide insight into life at the Turin club and helped convince the youngster that Juventus was the right destination.
Alajbegović revealed that Pjanić's connection with Juventus had an important influence on his thinking, while his father also played a significant role in the final decision.
That personal connection helped make the move even more attractive.
A New Chapter in Turin
Alajbegović arrives at Juventus as one of the most exciting young attacking talents in European football.
The 18-year-old developed through Bayer Leverkusen's academy before spending the 2025–26 campaign with Red Bull Salzburg, where he gained valuable senior experience.
He has now taken the next major step in his career.
At Juventus, he will work under Luciano Spalletti, another factor that has already impressed the youngster.
Alajbegović has praised Spalletti's demanding approach in training and said he is eager to continue learning from the experienced Italian coach.
Del Piero's Praise Adds to the Excitement
There has also been an early boost for Alajbegović from one of Juventus' greatest-ever players.
Club legend Alessandro Del Piero has praised the teenager's talent, something Alajbegović described as a huge honour.
It is another indication of the expectations surrounding the young attacker.
But Alajbegović appears determined to focus on development rather than allowing the attention to become a distraction.
Chelsea Miss Out
For Chelsea, the transfer represents another missed opportunity in their pursuit of Europe's emerging talent.
The Blues had been strongly linked with Alajbegović, but Juventus ultimately convinced the player that Turin was the right place for the next stage of his career.
And now the reason is clear.
Juventus' history, their faith in him and the influence of Pjanić and his family all combined to make the decision much easier.
Alajbegović has made his choice.
Now he has to prove it was the right one on the pitch.
