Frances Tiafoe completed one of the most impressive comebacks of the 2026 US Open by defeating Alex Michelsen to reach the semi-finals.
Tiafoe recovered from two sets down to beat his fellow American 5-7, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(6), booking his place in the last four at Flushing Meadows.
The result is only the third time Tiafoe has won a Grand Slam match after falling two sets behind, highlighting the resilience required to survive such a demanding contest.
His reward is an all-American semi-final against Ben Shelton, who defeated Carlos Alcaraz in another five-set thriller.
The meeting will be particularly significant because Shelton and Tiafoe will become the first Black American men to face each other in a Grand Slam semi-final during the Open Era.
