Lazio have reached an agreement with Sassuolo to sign Andrea Pinamonti, with the Italian striker set to become Gennaro Gattuso’s latest attacking reinforcement.
The deal represents the culmination of weeks of negotiations as Lazio searched for a new centre-forward. After several alternative targets failed to materialise, Pinamonti emerged as the club’s priority and the two sides have now found a solution.
Agreement Reached With Sassuolo
Lazio have agreed a deal with Sassuolo for Pinamonti, with the transfer now moving toward completion.
The latest reports indicate that the operation will be completed on a permanent basis, rather than the initial loan structure that had been discussed earlier in the summer. The agreement is understood to involve a relatively small initial payment followed by bonuses, with the overall package potentially reaching €10-15 million.
The creative structure was necessary because of Lazio's financial restrictions and the club's efforts to comply with Serie A's financial regulations.
Pinamonti Set for Medical
The next major step is the player's medical.
Pinamonti is expected in Rome to complete his medical examinations before signing his contract and officially becoming a Lazio player. Reports indicate that he is set to sign a contract running until 2030, with a salary of around €2 million net per season.
Once the formalities are completed, Gattuso will finally have the centre-forward reinforcement he has been requesting.
Gattuso Gets His Striker
Lazio had made signing a striker one of their biggest priorities during the summer window.
The club explored several possibilities, including Mauro Icardi, Franjo Ivanovic, Santiago Gimenez and Bamba Dieng, but none of those moves ultimately materialised. Dieng's proposed transfer collapsed after a medical issue, forcing Lazio to return to the Pinamonti option.
Pinamonti therefore arrives after a lengthy search for a player capable of leading the line.
Proven Serie A Experience
At 27, Pinamonti brings considerable experience of Italian football.
The striker came through Inter's youth system before gaining senior experience with several clubs, including Empoli, Genoa and Sassuolo.
He has accumulated 248 Serie A appearances, 57 goals and 15 assists, giving Lazio a forward who already understands the demands of the division.
His experience could be particularly valuable as Lazio attempt to compete at a higher level under Gattuso.
Why Pinamonti Fits Lazio
Pinamonti offers Lazio a traditional centre-forward profile while still possessing the movement needed to contribute to a more fluid attack.
His ability to occupy defenders, attack crosses and create space for teammates should give Gattuso another dimension in the final third.
The Italian will also provide competition for the other forwards already in the squad, giving Lazio greater depth over the course of the season.
A Fresh Chapter in Rome
For Pinamonti, the move represents another important stage in his career.
After several seasons moving between clubs, the striker now has the opportunity to establish himself as a key attacking figure at Lazio.
With a long-term contract expected to run until 2030, the club are also showing that they see him as more than a short-term solution.
Sevens Sports Arena Verdict
Lazio have finally got their striker.
After weeks of negotiations and several failed alternatives, Andrea Pinamonti is set to join Lazio from Sassuolo, with the clubs now having reached an agreement.
The move gives Gattuso an experienced Serie A centre-forward and addresses one of the biggest weaknesses in his squad.
The remaining step is the medical and completion of the paperwork.
Pinamonti is now one step away from becoming Lazio's newest striker.
