Real Sociedad have agreed a deal worth around €8 million for Fort, who has accepted the Spanish club's project.

Barcelona will retain significant control over the player's future, with the agreement including a 50% sell-on clause and a buy-back clause reportedly worth around €20 million.

The structure allows Barcelona to benefit financially if Fort is sold in the future while also keeping an avenue to bring him back should he establish himself at the top level.

Fort Leaves Barcelona

Fort has been with Barcelona since joining the club's academy in 2013. He progressed through La Masia before making his senior-team debut during the 2023/24 season.

However, despite showing promise, the versatile full-back has struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team player.

He spent last season on loan at Elche, but Barcelona ultimately decided that another move would be the best option for his development.

Real Sociedad Opportunity

The move to Real Sociedad gives Fort the opportunity to continue his development while remaining in Spain.

The young defender is expected to have a stronger pathway toward regular first-team football at Sociedad, where he will compete for opportunities at full-back.

Fort's versatility is one of his biggest strengths, having demonstrated the ability to operate on both sides of the defence.

Barcelona Protect Their Investment

Although Barcelona are allowing Fort to leave permanently, the club have protected themselves through the terms of the agreement.

The 50% sell-on clause means Barça would receive half of any future transfer fee generated by Fort, while the reported €20 million buy-back option provides another route for the Catalan club to regain control of the player.

That could prove valuable if Fort develops into a major La Liga defender.

Sevens Sports Arena Verdict

Real Sociedad are now on the verge of completing the signing of Héctor Fort from Barcelona.

The €8 million agreement represents an important move for the young defender, who will now have the opportunity to establish himself away from Camp Nou.

For Barcelona, the inclusion of a 50% sell-on clause and buy-back option ensures they have not completely lost control of Fort's future.

The deal is at the final stages, with Fort having already said yes to Real Sociedad.
