FIFA has unveiled the full schedule for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, confirming that Brazil will host the opening match and final at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The tournament will run from 24 June to 25 July 2027, with 32 teams competing across 64 matches in eight Brazilian host cities. It will also be the first edition of the Women’s World Cup staged in South America.
Maracanã gets the biggest moments
The Maracanã will provide the setting for the tournament's opening match on 24 June, when hosts Brazil begin their Group A campaign.
The famous Rio venue will then welcome the finalists on 25 July, when the new world champions will be crowned.
It will be a particularly significant occasion for the stadium, which will become only the third venue to have hosted both a men's and women's World Cup final.
The Maracanã will also host several group-stage matches, a quarter-final and one semi-final during the tournament.
Brazil's route begins in Rio
As hosts, Brazil already know where their three group matches will be played.
Their campaign starts at the Maracanã on 24 June, before they travel to São Paulo for a match at Arena Itaquera on 29 June.
Their final group fixture will take place at the Estádio Nacional in Brasília on 4 July.
Brazil's potential knockout route will depend on where they finish in Group A, but the ultimate destination remains the same: the Maracanã on 25 July if they reach the final.
Eight cities ready for the tournament
The competition will be spread across eight host cities:

●Porto Alegre
●Recife
●Salvador
FIFA has confirmed that every host city will stage at least seven matches and at least one knockout fixture.
São Paulo will host the most matches, including one semi-final and the bronze final, while Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza will also stage quarter-final fixtures.
A new chapter for women's football
The 2027 tournament will be the 10th edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup and the first to take place in South America.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has described the tournament as an opportunity to showcase Brazil's passion, colour and football culture to the world.
With the opening and final both taking place at the Maracanã, FIFA has also created a clear narrative for the tournament from its first kick to its final moment.
The full field of 32 teams is not yet complete, with the remaining places to be decided through qualifying and play-off competitions.
But the stage is already set.
Brazil will welcome the world's best women's teams next summer, and when the tournament reaches its final night, the Maracanã will be waiting to crown a new world champion.
