WWE NXT returns tonight from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, with the road to NXT Heatwave entering its final stretch. The show begins at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, with several matches and storylines carrying direct implications for the August 30 premium live event.

NXT Championship Picture Gets More Complicated

One of the biggest talking points heading into tonight's show is the increasingly crowded NXT Championship picture.

Cruz Montana is scheduled to address Zilla Fatu after Fatu's shocking arrival disrupted the recent No. 1 contender situation involving Montana and Grayson Waller.

With Tony D'Angelo holding the NXT Championship, Fatu's arrival could completely change the direction of the title scene heading into Heatwave.

Lexis King Defends the Men's Speed Championship

Lexis King will put the WWE Men's Speed Championship on the line against Lucien Price.

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair Team Up

NXT Women's Champion Kendal Grey will team with Women's Speed Champion Wren Sinclair against Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong.

The match has major implications ahead of Heatwave, where Grey is scheduled to defend her championship against Jordan.

With both Jordan and Armstrong determined to make an impression, Grey and Sinclair will have to work together despite the individual championship storylines surrounding them.

Nattie vs. Thea Hail

Nattie will return to singles action against Thea Hail.

The match has plenty of personal tension surrounding it, particularly because Hail is now aligned with Jaida Parker, one of Nattie's rivals.

That connection could make it difficult for the veteran to focus entirely on her opponent.

Myles Borne vs. Jackson Drake

Another important match sees Myles Borne take on Jackson Drake.

The stakes are especially high for Drake. If he wins, Vanity Project will earn NXT North American Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship opportunities at Heatwave.

That makes the match one of the most consequential contests on the card.

AAA World Cruiserweight Title Opportunity

The show will also feature a Fatal Four-Way No. 1 Contender's Match involving E.K. Prosper, La Parka, Tristan Angels and Romeo Moreno.

The winner will earn an opportunity to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
